In a ceremony held in Katherine last week, emergency services personnel were presented with medals for their service to their community.
Superintendent Colin Smith was awarded with the National Police Service Medal for 30 years of service and to recognise the special status he has because of his role in protecting the community.
Senior Constable Heather Donald and Detective Senior Sergeant Clinton Sims received the National Medal, which recognises diligent service in organisations that protect life and property at some risk.
Leading Fire Fighter Garry Branson was awarded with the 25-year clasp for his work as a Northern Territory fire fighter.
Senior Constable Heather Donald and Sergeant Simon Freson were awarded with the NT Police Service Medal for 20 years of service.
The NT Police Service Medal is recognition by the NT Administrator to those who have completed ten years continuous meritorious service in the Northern Territory police force.
Constable Scott Lewis received the Commissioner’s Letter of Recognition for saving a man’s life who had suffered severe blood loss durting a self-inflicted stabbing in 2010.
Const Lewis was also recognised for his quick reaction in a near-suicide incident.
