Holty on greens simply unbeatable

07 Dec, 2011 09:55 AM
LAST Sunday a good field of Katherine golfers competed in an 18 hole ambrose event which was followed by a luncheon and presentation of the 20011 major event trophies and prizes.

The Ambrose was won by the team of Liz Johnson, Di and Richard Kenafake, and Jeff Shields. Runners up were the team of Garrie Taylor, B C and Hoges.

It was great to see a number of sponsors having a whack with the golfers before presenting their prizes later in the day.

Special thanks to major sponsors Katherine Toyota, Terrace Emporium, the Katherine Country Club, OAMP’s, Gallop Thru Time, Watershed, Katherine Lock and Key, Jones Meat Mart, NT Technology, and Drummond Golf for their valued contribution to the 2011 golf season.

Special thanks to our President Peter Sinnott, who organised and coordinated the day.

Mark Holt completed another successful season being club champion for the third successive season. - Well done Holty.

There was not enough time on the day to present all of the prize winners.

We will provide a list of minor prize winners for collection at the Pro Shop.

The course will be closed most of the next weekend due to a corporate day and the NT Pennants which will be hosted in Katherine for the weekend.

For those who do not wish to be deprived totally of golf for the weekend we are going to run a Friday afternoon stableford competition starting at 1pm.

Pennant players are welcome for a bit of practice on the course.

Our December Monthly Medal will be held in two weeks time - the time sheet is on the notice board.

As reported last week, we now have a full complement of carts, which are proving to be popular with casual golfers.

To avoid disappontment, bookings can be made through the Pro Shop on 89713009 or by phoning me on 0438003678.

Good to see a couple of new players have gained their handicaps. See you competing in the competition.

More on the Christmas golfing arrangements next week.
