Pirates vs BarBarians
The first game was a fiery affair with the Pirates taking on the BarBars to open the night.
Both teams rattled each other in defense and it was a tight contest throughout the match.
The Pirates posted first points but the BarBars were quick to reply.
Both teams lamented poor conversion attempts to be locked at 10 all with 15 minutes to go.
Poor BarBar discipline cost the team giving away a penalty goal ten metres in front.
The Pirates took the advantage and led 13–10 with minutes to go.
The BarBars gave it a good crack in the remaining minutes to upset the form team but the Pirates’ solid defense held true and they posted a long range try to close the game out 18 – 10.
Lions vs Brahmans
The second game of the night was between Lions and Brahmans.
The Lions received the ball off the kickoff and attempted to move out of their territory at a steady rate, only to have the Brahmans turn the ball over on the 10m line and drive through for an early try, taking the score to 5-0.
The Lions rallied midway through the half which saw them deep in the Brahmans territory only to lose the ball a few metres from the try line.
The Brahmans managed to clear the ball and get back into Lions territory, where they managed to get a penalty goal to close out the half and take the score to 8-0.
The Lions rallied early in the second half and again saw them deep in the Brahmans half, this time coming away with points in the form of a try, taking the score to 5-8.
As the half continued the Brahmans managed to get into the Lions half with attacking momentum which saw them come away with a try taking the score to 13-5 and closing the Lions out of the match.
The KRU would like to thank all officials and supporters for attending.
