The evening of Friday, November 4, brought an end to the KJARFC 2011 seasons.
The night began with the election of an all new committee for 2012.
Congratulation to the following people who will carry on Australin football for tomorrows juniors; President - Shannon Dohl, Vice President - Mitch Phillpott, Treasurer - Lisa Buderick, Secreatary - Jodie Clausen and Canteen - Barb Kariko, Shannon Winkler and Bianca Philpott.
A big thank you goes to the outgoing committee members Mario Carusi, Tony and Karen McGregor, Michael Crothers who have moved on to the 16 and Under Big Rivers League, Rod Greg and Daryl Grahek who will continue to assist with the Auskick and AFL juniors programs and Denis Wakefield.
The Auskick boys and girls awaited in eagerness for their names to be called.
Each player excitedly collected their trophy and plush footy before going on to play their final game for the season.
For many of these players it was their first season learning the skills and playing the game.
The reward for coordinators Shannon Dohl and Rodd Gregg and regular parent helpers was to see how the players used their skills learnt through out weekly skill drills in weekly game situations.
The last game displayed team work, endeavour, good skills, scoring and most importantly fun.
Acting coaches Adrian (Port) and Dean (Bombers), on behalf of coaches Anthony Harding (Bombers) and Jason Purton (Port) were called up to present trophies to our future champions.
Players accepted their trophies with glee and then performed for one last time in front of family and friends.
The game was full of hard chases, some spot on passing, challenging marks, booming and tricky shots on goals as well as great team work.
13 and Under Swans and Blues began with their final hit out for the season.
As has been the case throughout the season teamwork was a show case with talk, shepherds and leads made by team mates to ensure their team maintained possession.
There were also signs of classy play with check side kicks, passes hitting leading players, superb pick ups and control of that unpredictable bouncing ball.
There were numerous marks and shots on goals by a host of players.
The Blues outplayed the Swans to run out eventual winners.
Swans Assistant coach Travis Bruce, who was standing in for Michael, and Blues coach Jon Shaw, presented medallions to all their players, before then awarding trophies to the following players for their outstanding 2011 season.
Most Consistent - Joseph Cadell (Swans), Matthew Jackson (Blues) and Jess Budarick (Blues), Most improved - William Bruce (Swans) and Sam Shaw (Blues), Coaches Award - Stockley Warton (Swans) and Dean Sullivan (Blues).
On behalf of the 2011 committee I would like to say thank you to all coordinators, coaches and their assistants for their outstanding commitment and to all parent helpers, time keepers, canteen, water runners, first aid, scorers, umpires, giving out reward stickers, assisting with skills drills and training for volunteering your time to ensure our children had a great time playing footy, staying hydrated and fed throughout the 2011 season.
Can’t wait to do it all again in August 2012.
