Open to all ages, experience and fitness levels, triathlon events are conducted every two weeks at the YMCA pool on Sunday mornings at 7am.

Both a Mini (300 m swim, 10.0 km bike, 3.0 km run) and a sprint (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5.0 km run) are held.

Come and ‘tri’ - you may be surprised at how much fun tri's can be and how fit you really are.

Tri Katherine also encourages members to participate in other regional and inter-national events and currently some members are doing just that, including Sinon Cooney who completed the Noosa Olympic triathlon last month and did really well.

Kate Robertson and her trusty training buddies from Katherine and Darwin are headed to Phuket this week for a half-ironman event and Ashan Weerakkody is gearing up for a Sri Lanka half-ironman in February

Triathlon in Katherine is not a sport for athletes only - the community culture makes for a great environment for anybody wanting to try it.

The event is available to all ages and all ability levels and so far the number of young families entering in teams has been great for the fun and friendly atmosphere.

In the spirit of Christmas, come down for the final race of 2011 on Sunday, December 11, and enjoy a free breakfast cook-up after the race.

This will be a great chance to get together and congratulate each other on the season so far and for those whom are not quite convinced - come down to meet participants, have a look and enjoy a free feed.
