A LOVABLE gentle ginger “giant” moggie is looking for a caring new home.
Three-year-old Harley, a male short-haired cat, was surrendered to the Katherine RSPCA several months ago.
Katherine RSPCA manager Kerry Hewitt said Harley’s owners could no longer keep the feline, and she was searching for a new owner to take care of him.
Harley is temporarily being looked after - under the watchful eye of vet Sam McMahon at Northern Territory Veterinary Services - but Ms Hewitt said a good home for the ginger boy was desperately needed.
Vet Sam McMahon said Harley came off a farm, was house trained, and did not scratch or bite.
“He’s shy, but a very affectionate animal when he gets to know you,” Ms McMahon said.
“He is a gentle giant.”
She said she was appealing to people looking for a new pet, as he had a delightful nature.
“People need to remember when you buy a pet it is there (a part of your family) for the rest of its life,” she said.
As an adult cat, she feared Harley might be overlooked, with people wanting a kitten instead.
“He’s a big beautiful boy, we have got to find him a home,” Ms Hewitt said.
She said when the RSPCA re-home any animal, it took a few days for the pet to relax and settle in.
People interested in more information on Harley can contact Ms Hewitt on 0407 559 479 or call into Northern Territory Veterinary Services on Mannion Street, between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday, or 9am to 12pm on Saturday.
