Cooking in judge Gary Mehigan’s kitchen Lynton had 90 minutes to design his own breakfast dish, but after several failed attempts and with only a few minutes remaining on the clock it was a simple but delicious bacon and egg breakkie that saved him from the axe.
The dish was judged the second best meal presented that night.
Lynton is now one of nine contestants who are facing their toughest week yet as they are cooking with star chef Heston Blumenthal this week.
Katherine Happy Corner Store owner Anna Quilloy said she was among Lynton’s biggest fans.
“Lynton’s dad, Ben Tapp, regularly watches the show at our store.
“He asked me if I would give Lynton a job when he’s a qualified Masterchef,” Ms Quilloy said.
“I said ‘I would like to’ but he is a celebrity now and I can’t afford to pay him,” she said, laughing.
Despite proving his worth with his bacon and egg breakfast last week, Ms Quilloy said Lynton probably wanted to cook “complicated” dishes, while her business served quick and easy takeaway meals.
