The community fundraiser, organised by the Katherine Times together with family friends, and donated by the Katherine Town Council and manned by members of the Katherine Firestation, raised $3,400.
A ‘Help Speedy’s family’ action group has now been set up in an aim to raise more much needed funds and get support for Mrs Donaldson and little Nathalie, who will have to celebrate Christmas without their loved one.
The Katherine Firestation will be rattling tins this Friday, December 13, at the Katherine Country Club, the Sport and Rec Club, and the Katherine Club between 6pm and 8pm.
Another tin rattle will be held at the Katherine Community Christmas Markets this Saturday, December 14.
Thanks to donations of Katherine businesses a raffle has been organised to help the family.
Raffle tickets are $5 each and can be bought at the Katherine Times office or at the Christmas Markets.
The main prize to be won is a night for two at Katherine’s luxury resort Cicada Lodge, valued at $850.
Raffle tickets will be on sale from today, Wednesday, December 11, until COB Monday, 16.
Winners will be drawn on Monday and names will be published in the Katherine Times on Wednesday, December 18.
Donation tins have been placed on counters of several Katherine businesses, including the Katherine Times office.
Anyone who wishes to donate money, goods or even toys for Nathalie can drop it off at the Katherine Times office on Katherine Terrace, across the road from the Post Office.
All donations will be delivered to Mr Donaldson’s family before Christmas.
