Graeme Connors takes road less travelled to Katherine

A KATHERINE couple has talked famous Australian singer and songwriter into playing in Katherine next year.

The artist - who has 16 CDs and countless awards, including Golden Guitars and Male Artist of the Year, to his name – played at the Darwin Entertainment Centre on the weekend, when he found himself surrounded by Katherine fans.

Among the crowd were Terry Avenell and his wife Rosita - Graeme Connors’ “biggest fan ever”.

The bubbly Katherinite did not only know the lyrics to every song, she also had the crowd’s support when she started ‘Come to Katherine’ cheers.

Graeme Connors spontaneously reworded his famous song ‘The road less travelled’ into ‘The road less travelled – to Katherine’, and when Mrs Avenell later bought all of the artists 16 CDs, Mr Connors acknowledged his Katherine-based fan base.

“It seems to be a special place, Katherine,” he said. “When do you want me to play there?”

The artist promised to include Katherine in his tour to the Northern Territory’s Top End next year.
