No flashing balls for police golfers

AN INTERESTING weekend of golf was completed over the past weekend.

The Katherine Vets Golf Club did not hold a comp due to a clash with the races on Saturday.

The vets will not have a comp next weekend due to the Katherine Golf club Foursomes event taking place on Saturday and Sunday next.

On Sunday the KGC held a Par competition.

Leigh Weston continued his good form to take out the event with +3 on a countback from Jarrod Date.

As already indicated two rounds of Foursomes golf will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

The Saturday draw has been placed on the club notice board.

Sunday’s draw will be seeded.

For those who have not entered the Club Foursomes, a Single Stableford competition will take place on Sunday morning, shot gun start 8 for 8.30am.

Visiting golfers are most welcome.

A good field of night golfers enjoyed a fun experience as night Ambrose golf again came to town last Friday evening.

The event has been described as a glowing success, with many thanks to the organisers.

Nathan Campfield of Drummond Golf sponsored and ran the event.

However his attempt to avoid the water hazards failed with both Kegs and Perko providing super wayward shots to splash down a couple of the glowing red balls.

Kegs wisely wrote his ball off, not so the more adventurous Perko, who was able to demonstrate to his mates that he actually couldn’t walk on water.

I was therefore able to include a new species of waders to my expanding bird list of the Katherine golf course – raafio perkensis.

The RAAF team conducted another successful golfing raid to come out narrow winners over the Police team.

I understand that the Police team’s request for flashing red and blue night golf balls for our next nocturnal event has been declined by the organisers.

Last weekend both Athur Aranui and I travelled up for the Humpty Doo Open where we both failed to interest the scorers.

I distributed a good number of entry forms for next month’s Katherine Open.

Seems like we can brace ourselves for an increase in the number of visitors from top end clubs.

The word is out and about on the good condition of our course.

See you at the Foursomes.
