IF THERE’S ever been a living contradiction to the rule that old dogs can’t learn new tricks, then its embodiment is Katherinite Graeme Hodder: the Territory’s oldest P-plater at the age of 71.
Mr Hodder, who has lived in Katherine for 15 years, was featured in the Katherine Times last year wearing the widest of smiles at having just gotten his L Plates.
Now, after succeeding at his very first attempt at sitting for his Ps, he is ready to fulfil his dream of taking to the road solo and heading off for adventure in his van, with his dog Boko.
Thanks to the aid of a good mate who helped him track down his Nissan Vanette, Mr Hodder has had a set of wheels waiting for him for some months. And now he is licensed to drive alone, he is itching to set off on his long-planned trip back to his home turf of Rylstone in NSW.
