RINGERS in boots and chaps and cowboy hats are gearing up to mingle with damsels in fancy frocks and fascinators for one of the biggest racing spectacles the Australian Outback has ever seen.
Amateur horse racing, campdrafting, horse sports, art and photography exhibition, bush poetry and tall tales are on the cards when Brunette Downs station - 135kms north of the Barkly Homestead - comes to life tomorrow, Thursday, June 21, for four days of outback action.
Now heading for their 102nd year, the races are Australia’s best kept outback secret and the most exciting event on the Barkly Tablelands social calendar.
Bar and catering all event. $55/person for four day entry (camping fees included).
