A man has been arrested following the death of another man in Katherine South at 10pm last night.
The alleged victim, a 33-year-old man, was found at Katherine's Carramar Flats on Riverbank Drive.
An 18-year-old man is currently being questioned by police.
He was arrested by Katherine police.
The cause of death has not been released yet.
Katherine detectives have charged the 18-year-old man with murder.
Detective Senior Sergeant Clinton Sims of the Northern Investigations Section said police were called to Carramar Flats in Katherine South following a disturbance between the victim and the offender.
“Police attended the scene and discovered the man unconscious and suffering severe head injuries," Sect Sgt Sims said.
"It is alleged that the weapon used was a hammer.
“First aid was applied at the scene by Police and the victim’s family, however, the man was unable to be revived.
“The offender was sighted by police and arrested shortly after the incident occurred.”
