A PRELIMINARY hearing into the murder of a Katherine man has heard he sent threatening text messages to his former partner and her son before his death.
Three people charged with the murder of Ray Niceforo appeared in Darwin Magistrates Court on Monday.
During the hearing court was told Mr Niceforo was arrested for domestic violence offences a month before his murder.
Ms Buttery said she had received threatening text messages - including one that read “Today will be the day you lose someone close to you and you will be in tears for the rest of your life.”
