AS EXERCISE Pitch Black is in full swing across Top End skies, night-time flying commenced on Monday, allowing participants to conduct critical training in the dark.
Exercise Director, Group Captain Michael Kitcher said RAAF pilots had to be confident in their ability to safely operate their aircraft at night - which makes night flight training a crucial element of the exercise.
