The aircraft, from No. 75 Squadron at RAAF Base Tindal, performed a single pass in a Vic formation over the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre following Katherine Town Council’s Australia Day ceremony on Monday morning.
Just prior to departure, Squadron Leader Matt Garside told the Katherine Times that the pilots did not get to do flight displays often and this was his first display in the Northern Territory.
After flying over Katherine, the three pilots pointed their aircraft north and held over water to the north-east of Darwin airport before flying over the city’s cenotaph at midday.
The jets travelled at speeds between 300 and 350 knots, at an altitude of just 152 metres.
