The competition was launched on March 4 and photographers are being urged to show the town in a single frame.
It does not matter whether Katherine to you means the ancient cliffs of Nitmiluk National Park or your sporting team celebrating after a win: if the photo screams Katherine, enter it.
More than 200 entries were received for the inaugural competition in 2014, and Katherine Times manager Duana Job said she hoped even more Katherinites got involved this year.
The entries will be unveiled at the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre on March 20, and the photo judges deem the best will score a $499 Sony Action Cam.
A people’s choice competition - voted on by Katherine Times readers - will be run for the month following the official opening.
See the March 4 edition of the paper for full details.
How to be a winner
1. Take a photo you believe sums up the true essence of Katherine.
2. Email the photo - including details about your subject and where you took it - to editor.kathtimes@fairfaxmedia.com.au, or drop it into the Katherine Times office on a USB.
3. Each entrant can submit two photos by 5pm on March 16.
4. A judge’s winner will be announced at the exhibition opening on March 20, while the people’s choice winner will be announced in the Katherine Times on April 22.
