The closest match of the afternoon was between Bandits - Kate Love, Jessica Love and Angus Cameron - who defeated Aces - Charlie Alexander, Georgia Grosser and Nathan Driscoll - by just two games, three sets, 15 games to three sets, 13 games.
Cameron played a strong role for Bandits and won his three matches. A strong win by Diamonds - Mita Anderson, Niki Baylis and Eugene Bolton - over the second-placed Saints line-up of Jesse Fox, Michael Jazyschyn and Dawnellen Batkin was to the tune of five sets, 23 games to one set, 14 games.
Flames - Hayley Lye, Emily Baylis and Andrew Jazyschyn - had a convincing win and consolidated their top billing when they defeated Rebels - Sami Bawi, Teri Mlilo and Leo Howard – five sets, 23 games to one set, 12 games.
In the senior competition, Breakpoints - Lewis Lampton, Shayne Cox and Simone Cameron - took a tumble against Dropshots’ Kate Redfern, Tavis Beer and Sami Bawi, who won with flying colours, five sets, 35 games to one set, 12 games.
The match of the night was the top single between Redfern and Lampton, who played a marathon set of quality tennis, with the latter sneaking home 8-6 in the tiebreaker to win Breakpoints’ only set for the evening.
Topspinners - David Brummitt, Mark Grosser and Charlie Alexander - also had a hard time against Touch and Go’s Luke O’Donnell, Sean Fagan and Jack Love, with a score of five sets, 32 games to one set, 14 games going to the latter.
O’Donnell played a pivotal role in leading the way for the team’s win.
The closest battle of the evening was the match-up between Lucky Strings - Aaron Ralph, Mel McCormick and Phillipa Love - and Flying Aces - Greg Dickson, Aidan Carusi and Darcy Lye.
Lucky Strings were too good on the court and claimed a big win, four sets, 24 games to two sets, 23 games.
McCormick fought hard and led the victorious team by chalking up victories in her three matches.
This week, the final series will be played after the conclusion of a tight and even minor round, with only one win separating the six teams.
