Publican Robyne Webster told the Katherine Times that when the pub announced the 2014 ball would be its last, they had not expected an outcry of grief that would result in the weekend of fun-filled shenanigans brought back by popular demand.
“We were under pressure from people who had been in the past and all saying we had to hold it again, so, in the end, we gave in to the numbers,” Ms Webster said.
This year will be the 11th event hosted by the Daly Waters Pub and Ms Webster said the venue had got planning down to a fine art.
“Because we’ve been doing it so long, all our spreadsheets are already done and it’s got easier and easier over the years,” she said.
Friday night will feature a “tradies and tiaras” themed party, with games, cash prizes and giveaways.
The main ball will be held on Saturday night, and popular Northern Territory music act Dr Elephant will provide the entertainment for revellers throughout the weekend.
A percentage from ticket sales will be donated to Variety NT, the Leukaemia Foundation and the Epilepsy Centre.
