Appearing disheveled, shoe-less and unsteady on her feet, 52-year-old Kaye Woodruffe was charged yesterday with the May 12 murder, and will be remanded in custody until her next court appearance on July 27th in Darwin.
It is understood Woodruffe will be transferred to the Darwin Correctional Centre today.
Police allege Woodruffe stabbed the victim with a star picket, which is commonly used in fencing.
In a statement yesterday, Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Tony Henrys said police allege the fatal altercation occurred on O’Shea Terrace riverbank at around 6:00pm on Tuesday .
The victim was taken to Katherine Hospital but died soon after of her injuries.
Woodruffe was arrested at the scene.
