The show-stopping announcement was made at the conclusion of Saturday’s 2015 event, which was claimed by Penguin Lovers, who claimed the silverware ahead of the fast-finishing Hogue’s Rogues.
A $50,000 European travel voucher was on offer for securing a hole-in-one on the day, but cash will be on the table next year in a bid to make the 2016 Chamber of Commerce NT event the biggest ever.
CCNT Katherine branch executive officer Sue Jones said the competition had been an overwhelming success.
“It was a great effort from all teams and a fun day was had by all,” she said.
“The hole-in-one didn’t go off, but was very close and less than a metre away.
“I would personally like to thank Shaun Coutts for his help in contributing to the day.”
Arthur J. Gallagher Insurance Brokers will offer the $50,000 cash next time players tee off and Katherine team leader David Shemmell said he hoped one lucky player would be able to improve their game enough to pocket the prizemoney.
“Some players got on the green and heartbreakingly close to the pin,” he said.
