THE incoming director of the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre says furthering the engagement between the organisation and Katherinites is high on her list of things to do when she takes the reins on July 1.

Suzanne Fermanis will replace inaugural director Cath Bowdler next week and said she was keen to build on the “bar of excellence” set by her predecessor.
“It’s really important for me to continue what Cath’s done,” she said.
“Part of the excellence is creating a first-class gallery and performing arts centre that attracts international and national tourists - it’s about putting the Territory on the map.
“What I do want is to reach out a lot more to the community and get ideas on what the community wants.
“[GYRACC] is nothing without the community.”
Ms Fermanis has a long history in senior arts management in the not-for-for profit sector, including as general manager of Northern Territory-based Dance Tracks.
GYRACC chairman Craig Lambert said the board believed she “possesses the skills and passion to deliver the goals of the centre in its consolidation phase over the next three years”.
