The minor round season concluded on August 22, with the team claiming bragging rights ahead of Nek Minnit and Rebels, who rounded out the top three.
KSA spokesman Phillip Butler said the result reflected the dominant performance that Rockers had delivered week after week on the diamond.
“Katherine Softball would like to congratulate Rockers for claiming the 2015 women’s minor premiership,” he said.
Nek Minnit, Wanderers and Rebels finished the minor rounds in the mixed competition in a three-way tie, with game statistics handing the minor premiership silverware to Wanderers.
On August 29, the women’s and mixed teams will begin fighting for a place in their respective grand finals. The junior game between Rebels and Nek Minnit will start at 9am.
Rockers and Nek Minnit will square off at 10.30am, with Wanders and Rebels facing off in the mixed semi-final at 12.15pm.
Results from August 22
THE morning began with the junior clash between Nek Minnit and Rebels.
Nek Minnit batted first and scored six runs via a safe hit to Ashlee Wittaker, along with strong team batting and base running.
Rebels chalked up eight runs as Brian Pedwell fired to deliver a two-base hit.
In its second innings, a Hemere Wosomo home run helped Nek Minnit add another seven runs to its tally, before Rebels took control and added eight more runs to seal victory with a 16-13 score line.
There were standout performances from Pedwell, Shannon Devery and Taylah Ogilvie for Rebels, while Wittaker, Wosomo and Tarkyn Rosas shone for Nek Minnit.
In the only women’s game of round 10, Rebels impressed to post a 16-10 win against Nek Minnit. The team sewed up the game in the fourth and final innings when it piled on seven runs.
Best on ground for Rebels was Lyn Trindle with a perfect 1000 batting percentage, along with Cheryl Hayes and Kaillee Brown.
For Nek Minnit, Chloe Girdler also recorded a perfect 1000 batting percentage.
Nek Minnit was unstoppable in the mixed game, with the team defeating Bad Company in a 15-8 result.
