With the mercury reaching 40 degrees, the Hawks came out firing against Southern Districts Crocs and took control on the scoreboard through standout performances by Nagawalli, Caroll and Buderick.
The Crocs linked up well, which meant the Katherine region boys had to play an accountable style of football for the first time this year.
At half-time, the Hawks held a 12-point lead with forwards Wilson and Gardner providing plenty of headaches for the opposition during some dazzling displays with the Sherrin.
After some inspiring words from coach Greg Bain at the break, the Hawks came out of the blocks fast in the third quarter.
Despite having more shots at goal, inaccuracy hurt the visiting Crocs as the home outfit had its goal-kicking radar dialled in.
Nagawalli showed the Hawks faithful what an asset he is with some great ruck work.
Goals to Carroll and first-gamer Murrimal pushed the Hawks out to a 15-point lead heading into the final stanza.
As they battled the heat, the Hawks produced some impressive run-and-carry play in the last quarter to claim victory by 23 points and hold into second spot on the competition ladder.
