After the Hawks claimed their fifth win of the season via a forfeit last round, the team came out of the blocks firing at Nitmiluk Oval on Saturday as they piled on the goals to chalk up victory number six by a staggering 130 points.

The Hawks got off to a flying start – something quickly become one of their on-field trademarks this season – by slamming home nine goals in a frantic opening quarter to have the Magpies looking at a 58-point deficit at the first break.

Nagawalli and Law played well and got first use of the ball to punish the Nitmiluk Oval visitors.

In the second quarter, the team continued to dominate possession of the Sherrin to go into the main break with a 93-point margin showing on the scoreboard.

Gardner was on fire and had five majors next to his name by half-time, as did Wilson, who slotted four goals for the game.

The Hawks did not give the scoreboard attendants any respite in the second half of the clash, with Buderick, Rogers and Law running their opponents ragged.

Rogers impressed in his first outing for the Big Rivers outfit, while Mole again showed his class and is gaining fitness, which will help the Hawks up forward.

When the full-time siren put the Magpies out of their misery, the Hawks had collected four easy competition points and catapulted past the competition to seize first place on the ladder.
