KATHERINE men spoke as one and pledged an oath against domestic violence in the community as part of national White Ribbon Day events on November 25.

It was the third event to help raise awareness in order to create a cultural shift that led to a future without men being violent towards women.
After the White Ribbon Muster march along Katherine Terrace, the crowd gathered to listen to speeches from local men who had witnessed the impact of domestic violence in Northern Territory communities.
CatholicCare NT’s Errol McCoy said his participation was to set an example for his grandchildren.
“My pledge is to my wife and to my daughters, and my granddaughters, and hopefully my grandsons, they will grow up and take the same oath,” he said.
“They will follow what I do; I am just leaving a great footprint for them to follow.”
Mr McCoy said that violence against women was “not part of anyone’s culture”.
