Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer from Strike Force Trident said the youth – aged between 13 and 17 – were arrested on November 26.
Police will allege several of the youth were involved in the theft of two cars from Katherine and drove to Darwin in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.
“Once they arrived in Darwin, all nine youth were then involved in a crime spree, including breaking in to several houses and stealing two more cars,” he said.
“After extensive investigations, all nine were arrested.”
Senior Sergeant Stringer added that the a group led police on a brief chase before they fled into bushland, where they were arrested.
Three of the youth received diversion, five were remanded to appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court on November 30, while the ninth was bailed to appear on December 4.
“Youth driving around in stolen cars is a dangerous situation, where there is the potential for serious injury or fatalities,” Senior Sergeant Stringer said.
“This is another great result for Trident apprehending these young offenders.”
