The Katherine outfit will head to Alice Springs this week to pad up for the 2016 Imparja Cup, Australia’s foremost indigenous cricket carnival.
The event will run from February 8 to 15, and Katherine captain John Garling told the Katherine Times his charges had been training well and were thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the town’s cricketing talent in the national spotlight.
“We are extremely proud to represent the people of Katherine in the Major Centres Division,” he said as the team dodged storms to have a final hit-out on Monday afternoon.

“We will be playing against teams from Darwin, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek.”
Well-known player Kenny Maxwell will take to the field as the team’s vice-captain.
The rest of the team consists of Lewis Lampton, Ronald Scott, Jono Rioli, Dan Rosas, David Trindle, Curtis Shadforth, Warren Green, A.J. Ah Kit, Joshua Henry and Maurice Ray.
