Mr Lambert has used the Smarter Business Solutions program – which provides financial incentives for business owners to embrace efficient, innovative technology – to help with the cost of installing LED lighting at Terrace Emporium and a 50-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system at Mitre 10.
With the lighting and solar system now operational, Mr Lambert said he had already noticed a dramatic improvement in his electricity costs, and expected the latter investment to pay for itself within about three years.
He added that the program had allowed the operations to improve their environmental footprint and urged other business owners to consider following suit.
“As a business owner, I want to be green; I really do have a desire to improve our environmental outcomes,” he said.
It has to make business sense on paper; you’re not just going to do it to be green.
