the support of Nitmiluk Tours - proudly presents this week’s Community Hero.
HAVING lived in Katherine for half a decade the president of the Pirates Rugby Union Football Club and president of the Katherine Rugby Union Football Club Committee, Jesse King is committed to his sport - and the Katherine community.
The 24-year-old is also a member of the Katherine Sport and Rec Club Committee and a dedicated Middle-School teacher at Katherine’s St Joseph’s College.
“He is great with kids,” fellow teacher-colleague Sandra Riemer said.
“And he always tries to find new ways to get the kids involved in junior rugby to make sure there’s a good foundation in town for a healthy, active lifestyle.
“He is heavily involved with the rugby in Katherine, and he always makes sure the club is thriving.”
Katherine man Rodney Hoffman said his friend would always go the extra mile to support sporting events in Katherine.
“Jesse has been on many committees for a long time and even though he is only 24 he displays the maturity and wisdom of someone much older,” Mr Hoffman said.
“He is always willing to put up his hand to support and help, and is obviously very dedicated given that he has
become a father in the past year.
“Jesse a positive and happy-go-lucky person.
“He is also quite modest but I truly believe that a bit of recognition will go a long way to assure him that his time and efforts are very much appreciated,” Mr Hoffman said.
