The annual Chamber of Commerce NT Katherine Golf Day will take on a Pirates of the Caribbean flavour when teams tee off, with Katherine branch executive officer Sue Jones explaining that a local link to the Hollywood blockbuster played a part in choosing the theme.
“I made a decision to add a theme to our annual corporate golf day and my nephew had a minor part in the new movie, so it just all came together, and a pirate costume is easy to create,” she said.
“It’s all going well so far.”
While many players will work on putting together a prize-winning costume, the chance to win a $50,000 vehicle will have every competitor reaching for their long irons.
Arthur J. Gallagher and Vanderfield Toyota will offer the bumper prize, which will be won by the first player to bag a hole in one from the designated tee.
Ms Jones encouraged the business community to get involved, adding that many used it as an annual networking event.
Teams can register by going to chambernt.com.au or calling 8972 3830, with players hitting the course for a shotgun start on the day at 12.30pm.
