Senior Constable Mitch Stephens from the Northern Investigation Section said that at about 6am on Friday, a house on Fuller Crescent was entered by an unknown male.
“The occupants were asleep at the time but woke and disturbed the offender, who fled towards Elliot Street,” he said.
“A child under the age of 10 was assaulted during the unlawful entry.”
The alleged offender is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged in his late teens or early twenties, of slim build and last seen wearing a red singlet.
He has a distinctive mohawk-style haircut, with buzz cut sides and long, wavy dark brown hair on top.
