Runners rose early to avoid the heat and the first marathon runners hit the track at 6.45am on Sunday.
Four participants opted to participate in the full marathon, a 42.2km stretch.
They were Matthew Brady, Brad George, Dave Rumball and Maria Smith.
Event organiser Allirra Ludwig said it was a great turn out.
“We had mum's pushing prams, three kids did the 5km, and a dog,” she said.
While many locals participate, there were a number of people who travelled from far and wide to be part of the marathon.
“The day was a huge success with all participants travelling from Darwin, Sydney and Melbourne participating,” Ms Ludwig said.
“The day was also exciting with a new marathon course record of two hours 57 mins.”
