With 32 percent of the vote counted, Mr Snowdon has a two party preferred margin of 57 to 43 over his Country Liberal Party opponent Tina MacFarlane.
Speaking in front of supporters on Saturday night Mr Snowdon said they had “cleaned up in the CLP heartland.”
With 25 out of 54 booths counted Mr Snowdon had 7853 votes which was fewer than Ms MacFarlane’s 7953 but it represented a swing against the CLP of 7.31%.
Most of that swing was picked up by other candidates but Mr Snowdon will be elected on Greens preferences.
