The Katherine Show has run since 1965 and works to bring together the many strands of the region including farming, cultures, crafts and businesses.
Visitors to this year’s show can look forward to a variety of agricultural events, family fun and entertainment.
The 2016 show commences with a huge range of equestrian events on Wednesday and continues throughout the rest of the week with more ring events, judging and campdrafting.
Throughout the day showgoers will be able to browse a huge range of stalls at the pavilion or take the children along to see the farm animals, enter in a patty cake decorating competition and, of course, you can’t forget the show rides.
Visitors are urged to not forget to head along to the Grand Parade on the Friday afternoon and get involved in a new show competition – ‘Pimp My Bin’.
Entry to the competition will be free with all bins pulled along in the parade and a winner chosen from among the best.
There will be plenty to see during the two-day event with competitions including stud beef cattle, hacking, show jumping, miniatures, harness, poultry and dogs.
For those interested in livestock, there will be displays over both days with breeders on hand to answer any questions about their livestock you may have.
Other exhibits will include the pavilion packed full of cooking, craft, produce, horticulture, photography and school work displays.
There will also be special cooking competitions and workshops for people of all ages to enjoy.
Admission to the show on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is free to all members of the public. Friday and Saturday are "Show Days" with the much anticipated Rodeo to be held on Friday and Saturday nights.
Admission is free to members of the Katherine and District Show Society for the duration of the show.
The committee of the Katherine Show Society wish to thank the stewards, judges and volunteers of the Katherine Show.
The generosity of the Katherine community in donating their time and effort to the running of the show is greatly appreciated by the members, committee, staff and patrons of the show.
The show is held at the Katherine Show Grounds on Victoria Highway near the southern end of town and general pedestrian entry is via Murphy Street.
