The traffic light was clipped by truck turning the corner around 5.30pm on Sunday, July 24.
The incident was reported almost immediately and safety measures have been put in place until the traffic light is restored to be fully operational.
Mr Harris said this is a fairly rare occurrence, as it is only the second time it has happened in 10 years.
Only one set of signals has fallen and it has not disrupted traffic patterns in any way.
