About 650 Katherine school children and their families turned up to witness the presenters hold fire in their hands, lie on a nail bed and suspend beach balls in mid air as well as several wierd and wonderful exhibits.
The Circus has been travelling to schools in towns and Indigenous communities across the Northern Territory trying to excite students on the world of science.
This week has been Katherine’s turn with the group visiting several schools on Monday and Tuesday finishing up at the Katherine High School where they held their only public exhibition in the town.
Questacon presenter Natasha Prokop said the group was extremely happy with the engagement from the Katherine community.
“We were pleasantly surprised by how many kids came from our school shows,” she said.
“We saw a lot of kids coming back from the Katherine School of the Air, so they’re remote somewhere and they’ve made the effort to come into town.”
The Circus will head to Darwin next, for more information visit The Shell Questacon Science Circus Facebook page
