The Bureau of Meteorology says there is a chance of some opening rain tonight but the biggest falls are expected tomorrow.
Up to 50mm of rain is still expect across much of the region over the next three days, with totals expected of more than 20mm tomorrow.
While any sort of rain is unusual in the “dry”, it is unlikely the storms will produce the town’s record of 65.4mm recorded in 1986.
Temperatures are predicted to fall to a maximum 30 degrees in Katherine on Monday.
