The softly spoken seven-year-old scored the win with her first offering, “Four Lost Eggs”.
In her book, Ava details how a dingo stole some eggs from an emu’s nest and then had to hatch them.
Katherine Mayor Fay Miller presented Ava with her award at the Katherine Public Library today.
Her book will be displayed at the library for a month.
“I got the idea from another book at the library,” Ava said.
Ava is not sure she wants to be a writer when she grows up as she has interests in being a doctor, a nurse and a veterinarian among other pursuits.
