Katherine as one of three stops on the tour in the Northern Territory.
Festival manager Karina Libbey said the tour is looking forward to Katherine.
“We are thrilled to be bringing these fantastic of-the-moment films to Katherine, and to Northern Territory audiences, to ensure Territorians have the opportunity to see exciting global cinema on the big screen, in their town,” Ms Libbey said.
Last year, more than 200 of Katherine’s residents came together to celebrate the launch of the festival.
Check out film descriptions and trailers below:
Jasper Jones, by award winning Indigenous filmmaker Rachel Perkins, starring Toni Collette is a riveting thriller and moving Australian coming of age story about two teenagers: the bookish 13 year-old Charlie Bucktin, and 14 year-old mixed race outcast Jasper Jones.
Up for Love, is a French romantic comedy starring the Oscar winning Jean Dujardin (The Artist), a remake of the Argentinian comedy Corazón de León, about a couple trying to find love in a world of petty intolerance.
Like Crazy, an Italian comedy-drama about two women in a psychiatric clinic who escape on day release in search of love and happiness from multi-award winning Italian director Paolo Virzì.
The Eagle Huntress, a rite-of-passage movie about Aisholpan, a 13-year-old nomadic Mongolian girl who is fighting to become the first female eagle hunter in twelve generations of her Kazakh family narrated by Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley.
Graduation, Romanian Cristian Mungiu’s new film which won him Best Director at Cannes 2016, follows a doctor’s attempts to help his daughter pass a life-changing school exam with superbly subtle observation.
The Salesman, two time Cannes Film Festival 2016 award winner, Best Actor and Best Screenplay, from Iranian master Asghar Farhadi, is a characteristically thoughtful domestic drama set in Tehran, with a story stemming from a series of dangerous, all-too-human misunderstandings.
