However, I think our response to both of them is common. Many feel like we know what they each have to offer and what kind of things we expect them to say. We probably feel like we’ve heard it all before from both of them – and most might feel we’d be better off without them.
But I’ve discovered in my line of work that most people haven’t looked into either person very much beyond what others have reported and said - or in Jesus’ case, beyond what we might have come across in childhood.
I suspect dig beneath the surface and we’d still be disappointed with Trump, unfortunately.
Do the same with Jesus and you’ll be surprised.
So, I dare you. Go beyond what you’ve known from childhood. Join us in church from Feb 26th for seven weeks as we ask “Who is Jesus”. NO further commitment required.
Like Trump, Jesus will infuriate you - but for very different reasons.
And like Trump, Jesus will want to change your life - but he left his riches behind and offers you everything he has.
