Predicted totals for Katherine range from 5-10mm for tomorrow and Saturday.
There has been no rain in Katherine at all this week with clear, sunny days and cool nights falling to low temperatures of 21 degrees.
The Bureau of Meteorology expects today’s temperature will peak at 37 degrees before the chance of late showers.
The bureau said ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred is still situated near the coast east of Borroloola.
“It is expected to track to the west, crossing the base of the Top End in the next couple of days,” the bureau forecast.
“Scattered storms will cause falls 20-30mm with isolated falls to 50mm. However, these falls are not expected to contribute significantly to further flooding.
“Although river levels are easing, road conditions have been affected in many areas and some roads remain impassable. Some communities may remain isolated until conditions improve.”
