With the $90 million plane parked on display on the tarmac, RAAF brass welcomed the Newcastle contingent which included MPs and members of the Williamtown community.
Long time Salt Ash resident Robyn Thompson said she still had concerns about noise.
It had been hoped that the Newcastle group would arrive at Amberley before the plane, enabling people to hear what it sounded like first hand.
But the JSF was already parked when the group arrived at Ipswich, making it a "sight only" inspection.
Pilot Andrew Jackson said he did not believe the JSF was any noisier than the F/A-18 now at Williamtown.
But Paterson MP Meryl Swanson said the people that she had spoken to this morning was still very concerned about the noise.
The group is flying back to Williamtown on Monday afternoon.
