Networking at the NTCA conference in Darwin

POPULAR northern grazier Tom Stockwell, Sunday Creek Station near Daly Waters, has been re-elected president of the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association, the peak  primary industry body for territory pastoralists.

The NTCA’s 33rd annual general meeting and industry conference, with the theme Positioning for Prosperity, is currently underway in Darwin, with a full house of 550 delegates hearing from an impressive line-up of speakers.

This morning, former minister for trade and investment Andrew Robb outlined the importance of building relationships in the Asian region and the flow of foreign capital into the industry.

“We've always thought we couldn't influence demand but my observation is we can, and we must,” he said.

“That will mean getting to know the people driving that demand.”

Mr Stockwell opened the event with an entertaining and inspiring talk.

This afternoon’s line-up includes discussion on handing the family farm onto the next generation and a look at Australia’s competitive advantage in Asia.
