Katherine Volleyball Club committee member Briana Bell said the competition was a fun outlet for men and women of all fitness levels.
“I encourage people to give it a go, it is a really fun atmosphere,” Ms Bell said.
The mixed team social roster will begin on May 15 with organisers hoping to have eight to 10 teams entering the competition this year.
“We are planning on having a three week pre-season starting from May 15,” Ms Bell said.
“That way teams can come and learn the rules and give it a go before competition begins on June 5.”
Ms Bell said if you cannot scrape a team together by mid-May, you can sign on to the pre-season as a single player.
“Even people who don’t have a team can come along to the pre-season and we will try to find them a team, or put another team together,” she said.
Social sport is a great way for newcomers to meet people and become involved in the community.
“If you don’t have a team, you should call me so we can look out for you and try to find you a team,” she said.
“The last time we played we had about eight teams, we are hoping to get eight to ten teams this year to make a great competition,” Ms Bell said.
“Callistemon house used to have a team of young boarders which was really great, hopefully they put a team together again this year.”
Callistemon House is a boarding house offering accommodation to about 40 students from remote areas attending secondary school in Katherine.
Teams need to meet a minimum of six players and a maximum of 12 and must be mixed sex to qualify for competition.
Early bird registration is $350 per team before May 10.
Regular registration is $400 per team and must be payed by May 29.
