ABOUT 25 Katherine families joined together at ‘The Den’ to celebrate national families week this morning.

“We are celebrating families week but also 20 years of Good Beginnings being in Katherine,” Good Beginnings regional coordinator Bev Patterson said.

“We deliver early childhood programs and Play 2 Learn is our main program which we do three times a week here, but also in Binjari and Rockhole communities.

“Play 2 Learn is about family socialisation and helping kids reach the development milestones and transitioning them into school,” she said.

Communities around the nation are celebrate the importance of families from May 15 to 21.

‘Families are society’s most important building block; whatever form families take all deserve respect, support and encouragement,’  Families Australia’s CEO Brian Babington said.

“Stronger families mean stronger, more resilient communities,” he said.
