I know it’s a joke (and I think it’s a good one), but what’s a reverend supposed to do with that?! There was a Christian fad some years ago to wear bracelets saying “What would Jesus do?”

I think Jesus would love eating nachos. Let me give three reasons:

Firstly, obviously, nachos are tasty – and who doesn’t love tasty things?! Plus, one of the pictures the Bible gives of life after death involves vintage wine and fine meat – surely nachos fit the category of the good things this world has to offer.

Nachos are made to be eaten with others – and Jesus loved eating with others. He did it whenever he could. When there’s no food, he provides it. When a wedding reception is about to fall in a heap for lack of wine – Jesus produces gratuitous amounts to keep the festivities going for a very long time.

Finally, nachos are Mexican - and Jesus loved people of all backgrounds and ethnicities: the ‘in’ crowd and the outcasts, men, women, and children.

What I’m hoping you see from all of this, is that whilst Jesus loves nachos, he loves you much more.
