Following its inception in 1985, the festival has showcased Indigenous culture in the Katherine region for three decades and provides a platform for people to come together and celebrate the positive aspects of community life.

There was something for everyone during the weekend, with cultural demonstrations focusing on bush tucker, bush medicine and didgeridoo making proving popular.

In the sporting arena, teams from remote communities across the Top End squared off to battle for basketball, softball and Australian football glory.

Ticket collectors on the front gate of the festival estimated about 4000 people had came through the gates already this weekend. 

Live music was a major drawcard for many festival goers, with Missy Higgins and Bunna Lawrie bringing the house down on Saturday night.

Despite being sick Missy Higgins soldiered on through an intimate acoustic set, asking the audience to sing along when she was struck with a coughing fit.

The dry season weather fostered a great atmosphere and saw campers rugged up under a full moon.
