Windows and doors rattled just after 9pm.
Flights of planes were heard in the night sky above the Katherine area about the same time.
A spokeswoman for Geoscience Australia this morning confirmed there was no seismic activity recorded last night which could have been felt in Katherine.
“We are guessing it must have been the military activity,” the spokeswoman said.
The Tindal RAAF Base is involved in a new training exercise for the new few weeks called Exercise Diamond Storm.
The military exercise runs through to June 27.
The exercise involves pilots, intelligence officers and air combat officers across a range of Air Force platforms, including F/A-18A Classic Hornets, F/A-18F Super Hornets, E-7A Wedgetail, and C-130J Hercules aircraft.
