“The mayor was a strong community leader and role model for his community and I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing,” Minister Scullion said.
“From his days as a stockman to his leadership roles in local government, he was a family man and cultural leader who kept a close connection to his land.
“The mayor showed great leadership for the communities he worked with over his life and he and his family should be proud of the better outcomes he delivered for these communities.”
Mr Scullion said the mayor served the community of Peppimenarti and the people of West Daly with distinction and would be missed.
“The mayor was greatly respected in his community of Peppimenarti and the broader West Daly region and I acknowledge the legacy he has left for the people he diligently served over his lifetime,” he said.
“He was a role model who worked hard for his community as a traditional owner, community leader and elected official.
“I would like to pass on my heartfelt condolences to his family at this difficult time. My thoughts are with them.”
